Hot Mac games released this summer

By Ric Molina of Mac Gamer HQ

I hope you had a great summer. I know it sucks that it’s over, but let me tell you: all the great Mac games that came out this summer and which will keep you busy until fall.

World of Warcraft Legion

Without a doubt, the hottest release this summer was World of Warcraft Legion. Other than being the best WoW expansion ever (at least according to critics), Legion now uses Metal, MacOS’ new graphics engine. According to our tests, the game is 60% faster now, giving you one more reason to give WoW another try. You can read all about it here.

 Stardew Valley

The indie game of the year is finally available on Mac. I thought it was crazy that a farming simulator could be so successful. But I finally tried it myself and I can tell you this game is deep, fun and addictive. In fact, I’m on a plane right now and was just playing it on my MacBook Air. You can read more about the game here

The following games didn’t get a specific article, but you can go to my Mac gaming Calendar to read more about them:

Starbound

Starbound was already famous when it was on Steam Early Access (read: on beta). It was famous because it was great (it’s like Terraria in space!) and now that the game is finished, it’s even better.

Shadow Complex Remastered

I remember when Shadow Complex was released on Xbox 360 years ago. It was one of first Indies that was just as fun as AAA games. Well, Shadow Complex is now available on Mac and with better graphics.

The Final Station

This one is a fun indie game about survival. The Final Station puts you in charge of a train going through a world full of infected people. Fight and craft to keep your passengers alive!

Master of Orion

This is the revival of the old-school 4X strategy games you know and love. Master of Orion was probably on your radar if you’re into strategy games, but it if wasn’t, you’re welcome. 😉

Mafia 2

Mafia 2 was no longer available on Mac but now it’s back. And now with a Deluxe edition that includes previous DLCs, Mafia 2 is even better. Mafia 3 is right around the corner, perhaps bringing Mafia 2 to the Mac is a good sign?

Worms WMD

Worms W.M.D is the best Worms experience out there. This thing offers a hand-drawn 2D look, new weapons, crafting, vehicles, buildings and more. If you have ever enjoyed a Worms game before, you should check this one out.
