As an early adopter of the Apple Watch, the $149 – $199 Milanese Loop watchband always called to me…but my wallet was smart and wouldn’t listen to me. Fortunately, accessory manufacturer X-Doria has come out with the new X-Doria Mesh Band for the 42mm Apple Watch at a much more affordable US$49.99 price tag. Like Apple’s Milanese Loop, the X-Doria Mesh Band comes in two different finishes; black and silver. It uses the standard Apple Watch band mechanism to easily install the band on the Watch in seconds with no tools, and it uses a strong magnet as a closure to tighten the loop around your wrist.
Compared to the two other Watch bands I’ve used, the standard Sport Band and a third-party leather band, the Mesh Band is extremely comfortable. While I was always aware of the other two bands, the Mesh Band is almost like having no watchband on at all. It’s feels very cool against the skin, and looks great. The magnet holds the band snug against your wrist, and I found that it stayed snug even when working out.
I chose the black band to go with my Space Gray Apple Watch, although I think the silver one would have worked just as well and provided a nice contrast to the darker Watch.
