iOS Apps/Updates
RMKapps has introduced ZuumSpeed 1.0 for iOS. It’s a $0.99 speedometer app that provides the ability to personalize the interface. ZuumSpeed allows access to over 18 custom fonts with unlimited color options.
Electric Car Insider magazine has developed an interactive mobile EV Buyers Guide app that helps people interested in electric cars learn about electric vehicle technology and find a car that fits their budget and lifestyle. The new multimedia app version of the EV Buyers Guide has instructional video, audio podcasts, interviews and image gallery slide shows. It’s free, but does tout in-app purchases.
Shape Minds has given us Heavy Metal Tennis Training 1.0. In the 8-Bit game, the player has to take down an evil tennis machine outside a mansion while listening to 8-Bit inspired Heavy Metal music. Heavy Metal Tennis Training is free, but two extra characters are available via an in-app purchase.
macOS Apps/Updates
XwaveSoft has debuted Focus Matrix 1.0, a smart task organizer app for Mac OS X. Its organizational system is based on the “Eisenhower Box,” a productivity strategy created by U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower.
The app provides a priority matrix that breaks tasks down into four groups based on their urgency and importance. This lets you focus on the tasks that really matter, without getting caught up in those that can be delegated, or dealt with later.
Focus Matrix requires OS X 10.9 or later. It’s freeand is available worldwide exclusively through the Mac App Store. An upgrade to a Pro version is $4.99 and is available via an in-app purchase. As a special limited-time app launch offer, users can upgrade to Pro at a 30% discount ($2.99)
GrowthBeats Technologies has updated QuickShift to version 1.0.2. Sitting in the menu bar, it offers a way to clean up file clutter and organize your Mac by providing a series of power features.
You can add your most used folders to QuickShift and access them anytime from anywhere on your Mac with just a hotkey. Version 1.0.2 allows you to rearrange the grid and more.
QuickShift 1.0.2 requires Mac OS X Yosemite or El Capitan. It costs $2.99 and is available at the Mac App Store.
SpriTec Software has upgraded SuperTab, its OS X utility, to version 2.1. It’s an app for enhancing and extending the Mac’s built-in Command-Tab Application Switcher.
Version 2.1 introduces three new features that focus on the folder, including a “Clutter Free Folders” feature. It requires Mac OS X Yosemite or El Capitan.
A 30-day demo of SuperTab 2.1 is available for download. After 30 days, it remains fully-functional but will occasionally ask you to register. Until Aug. 15, you can take advantage of a special 50% off sale price of $10. SuperTab 2.1 is a free upgrade for SuperTab 2.0 users. Users of earlier 1.x versions of SuperTab can upgrade to 2.1 for $2.99.
Ergonis Software has rolled out KeyCue 8.1, an update of their keyboard shortcut cheat sheet. The upgrade integrates with Typinator, and allows Typinator users to quickly show snippets in a head-up display and insert them with a click.
KeyCue 8.1 requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later. The upgrade is free for anyone who purchased a license for KeyCue 7 on or after March 1, 2015. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses. For new users the cost is $19.99 for a single user license and $29.95 for a family pack.
Mobie has launched PhoneRescue 3, an update to their iOS recovery solution for Mac OS X. The app can help users bring back 25 types of misdeleted, damaged or lost data files on an iPhone and iPad.
With version 3, PhoneRescue has expanded the recovering power from specific data to the whole iOS system. When an iOS device runs into a system crash, it can be fully fixed within a single click, according to the folks at Mobie.
PhoneRescue 3 requires Mac OS X 10.8 or higher . A personal license is $49.99 and a family license costs $69.99.
Industrious One has created Musicality for Mac. The $11 app is designed to “break your music out of the browser” and offer desktop conveniences like keyboard shortcuts, AirPlay streaming, and more to over a dozen of the world’s most popular music services.
With it, you can play, pause, skip and rate songs on any supported music service. Musicality for Mac supports 15 music services to 15.
Musicality requires Mac OS X 10.10 or newer and an Internet connection. It may be downloaded as a free 10-day trial from the Musicality website. The demo is full-featured and unlocks in-place when purchased.
