If you’re a movie buff, you need can I Stream It

Let’s say that you want to stream a movie on your Mac, iOS device, or Apple TV, but you don’t know if it’s available for streaming. What do you do? Well, you can go to iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, and a dozen other sites and search them individually. Or you can do it the easy way and go to Can I Stream It.

Can I Stream It is a free web site/service/app that lets you enter the name of a movie you’d like to see. It will search iTunes, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu Plus, Crackle, YouTube, EPIX, Xfinity StreamPix, SnagFilms, Redbox Instant, HitBliss, Vudu, Starz and more to see if it’s available for free streaming, digital rental, digital purchase or DVD/Blu-ray purchase.

For example, when I searched for “Take Shelter,” I found that it’s offered for digital purchase, digital rental and DVD/Blu-ray purchase, but isn’t offered for free streaming. On the other hand, when I did a search for “Star Trek: The Wrath of   Khan,” I found that it’s is available for free streaming, as well as rental and purchase.

You can use Can I Stream It as is, without registering. However, if you do set up an account (it’s free), you can be notified when particular films become available for streaming, rental or purchase.

In addition to the website, Can I Stream It apps are available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and as a Chrome extension. They’re free, but do promote in-app purchases.

If you’re a movie buff, download the app and add www.canistream.it to your Favorites in Safari. There’s nothing better than an invaluable app/service that’s free!
