On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.
iOS Apps/Updates
Talkshow
Talkshow is a new social networking app that lets you host text-based discussions with the world. Create a “show”, share it to invite friends and followers, and then enjoy the direction the discussion takes. Talkshows can be shared to the web, to Facebook, and to Twitter, so others don’t even need to have the app installed to participate. It’s a fascinating concept, and the universal app is free.
The Rock Clock
Need motivation to get up and get things done? The Rock Clock (free) may be just the thing for you. Set a loud alarm created by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, figure out what it is you want to accomplish, and then start each day with a motivational message from The Rock! Hey, there are worse ways of getting motivated…
OS X Apps and Updates
Filters for Photos
Last week (or was it earlier this week?) we told Apple World Today readers about Filters for Photos, a set of stylish filters from Macphun that work with the standard OS X Photos app. At the time, you had to download Filters for Photos from Macphun, but now you can download it directly from the Mac App Store. Once it’s installed, be sure to enter your name onto the Macphun mailing list to get additional filters, then make sure you install the extension in the Photos app for instant dramatic effects.
Bulb Boy
Anyone who likes atmospheric, creepy games with a boy with a lightbulb for a head is going to love Bulb Boy, a new $9.99 game from Daedalic Entertainment. It’s described as “an intuitive 2D point & click horror adventure…Solve puzzles, defeat wicked monsters and reveal bulby’s abilities to unfold a twisted tale. Ohhh…And don’t forget to save your Grandpa-raffin and Mothdog from the frightening darkness.” Sounds just weird enough for me to buy.
