You know those Beats Pill XL speakers (an Apple product now…) that look like a multivitamin for a Lord of the Rings cave troll? Apple’s advising customers to stop using those speakers and will issue a $325 refund to those who return the device to the company.
There’s apparently a possibility — albeit quite rare — that the battery in the speakers may overheat and cause a fire safety risk. The company says:
The affected speakers were introduced in November 2013 as part of the Beats by Dre line, in advance of Apple’s acquisition of the company. Apple will supply those who volunteer to turn in their speakers with a postpaid box, and customers will receive their refund about three weeks after receipt by Apple.
