Here are some of the latest software announcements.
° RainViewer, a live weather radar app, will support iPhone Duo at launch with a layout built for the new form factor. Closed, the app is arranged for one-handed use on Duo’s near-square screen. Open, the radar map fills the display, map layers sit beside it rather than on top, and the forecast spreads across both panels without scrolling.
The update also brings a forecast screen rebuilt from scratch, combining precipitation data, hourly charts, sunrise and sunset times, air quality and a new AI forecast card. RainViewer is free on the App Store, with optional premium plans.
° Doodle, Please! is a new iPhone app. On graph paper, players draw bridges, weights, ropes and rotating mechanisms to get an autonomous character to a green flag. Physics pauses while drawing, letting you think through a solution before setting everything in motion.
Doodle, Please! has 90 levels across six islands, for iPhone with iOS 16 or later. The first six levels are free. A one-time US$8.99 Full Game purchase unlocks access to the remaining 84, played in sequence, with no ads or subscription.
° Crumb 3.0 has been released. It’s a Mac storage cleaner that runs a read-only scan, explains every item it finds in plain English (what it is, how big it is, and whether it comes back on its own), and removes only what you tick.
Version 3.0 is a full redesign, with separate builds for Apple silicon and Intel, a Visualize view you can drill into folder by folder, and Undo for the Organize tool. The free version includes a full scan and one cleanup. Crumb Pro is a one-time $9 purchase for up to two Macs. It needs macOS 12 or later, and it’s at https://cleanwithcrumb.com.
° Formidable Studio has made WatchBlocks, a full 2D sandbox survival game (mining, crafting, bosses, multiplayer) that runs natively on Apple Watch, plus iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.
° CareOps: Talk & Reflect is an iPhone app that offers AI conversations in English and Korean, by text or voice, alongside guided reflection exercises and saved session records. Version 1.0.7 adds a card after the first session that recaps the conversation and suggests what to discuss next, making it easier to pick up a reflection later.
The first AI session is free, with paid use afterward. CareOps draws on CBT/ACT-informed exercises, but does not diagnose or treat medical conditions and isn’t a substitute for professional care or emergency support. You can find CareOps on the US App Store.
° 4U IPTV Player, a native IPTV player for Apple TV, iPhone and iPad, has been updated. It’s free to download, with Premium by monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase.
° Sauce Labs, an “end-to-end agentic software quality assurance leader,” will support Apple’s new foldable iPhone Duo, with advance device reservations now open. With the new form factor, teams need to verify application correctness with the new layout and other device-specific characteristics before release. Sauce Labs customers can use AURA, the company’s release assurance platform, to automatically author, run, and analyze tests against iPhone Duo.
° Maxon, maker of software solutions for creators working in 2D and 3D design, motion graphics, visual effects and visualization, has announced its Fall 2026 ecosystem release, which introduces the 2027.0 releases of Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Redshift, Red Giant and Autograph, bringing substantial new creative capabilities and workflow improvements across the Maxon toolset. In the 2027.0 release, Maxon is delivering new ways to populate and simulate complex 3D worlds, more complete production workflows inside ZBrush, faster rendering feedback in Redshift, new art-directable VFX capabilities, and deeper creative automation and cross-application workflows in Autograph through Model Context Protocol (MCP) support and first direct connection with Cinema 4D.
° McAfee recently launched a new, transformational, product experience for consumers that supports all popular platforms, including Mac and iOS. Now available in the U.S. it’s designed to make online safety simpler.
° Macroful is a calorie and macro tracker built around a simple problem: logging a meal works differently when you have a plate of food, a packaged product, or a nutrition label in front of you. It lets iPhone users log with a meal photo, a saved photo, a barcode, a nutrition label, or food search. If it fits an upcoming roundup, I’d be happy to answer questions or provide more details.
° Truffle — the Mac app that works with Apple Music, local folders, rekordbox, Serato and Traktor — has been updated. The software checks eight sources, suggests every fix field by field and writes nothing until you confirm. It runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon only. It’s new on the Mac App Store this week, free to try with 100 tracks, the full version is a one-time $49.99.
