You can mix and match HomePod 2’s and HomePod mini 2’s for surround sound

You can mix and match HomePod 2’s and HomePod mini 2’s for surround sound.

In announcing the new Apple TV 4K and new HomePod mini 2, Apple said that four of the speakers can be combined for a surround sound system.

Thankfully, you don’t have to buy just four HomePod minis to make this happen. It also works with a combination of the full size HomePod 2 and HomePod minis.

You can mix and match pairs of ‘em so long as the front and rear pairs of speakers match. For example, you can have two full-sized HomePod 2 speakers up front and two HomePod mini 2 speakers in the rear.
