Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro series saw a solid launch in China with 12% year-over-year (YoY) growth in its first week, according to Counterpoint Research’s China Weekly Smartphone Sell-Out Tracker.
This helped the tech giant lead sales in week 38, supported by strong early upgrades, aggressive channel support and a narrowing price gap between top-tier competitor flagships and the iPhone Pro series, the article adds.
“The delayed launch of the base iPhone 18 may have driven some consumers to trade up to the Pro series, while price hikes of over $200 on many Chinese flagship models may have raised the price anchor, strengthening the iPhone’s relative value proposition,” said Senior Counterpoint Analyst Ivan Lam.
Overall, China’s weekly smartphone sales have declined double-digit YoY since July amid soft demand and rising memory costs Counterpoint says September’s new product launches are expected to support sequential recovery.
