Apple is working on an activity tracker that doesn’t have a screen, reports Bloomberg, reiterating a previous report.
The screen-free health and fitness device is said to be like to Whoop’s line of bands. WHOOP makes a screen-free line of minimalist, wrist-worn health and fitness tracking bands that monitor sleep, strain, recovery, and heart health.
Apple has been exploring the category for months and has developed prototypes, but hasn’t decided whether the project will move forward, the article adds.
The concept is for a lightweight band with no integrated display, designed to track continuous health metrics in the background (like heart rate, sleep, workouts, and recovery). Instead of viewing data on your wrist, all metrics and AI-driven insights would sync directly to the Apple Health app on your iPhone.
The apparent goal of the potential screen-less Apple Watch is to reduce digital distractions, improve battery life, and appeal to users who prefer minimal bands over full-featured smartwatches.
