iOS has a Look Around feature in the Maps app that’s powered by the new basemap and high-resolution 3D photography. It delivers street-level imagery of a city with smooth transitions. Let’s look at how to use it in iOS 26.
Opening Look Around
- Search a place: Type a city or street address into the search bar.
- Tap the binoculars: Look for the binoculars icon near the bottom left of the screen or right on the map view.
- Select a spot: You can also tap and hold on any supported road to drop a pin, then tap the binoculars inside the pin card.
Navigating and Adjusting the View
- Pan around: Drag your finger left or right across the image to look in any direction.
- Move forward: Tap further down the street inside the image window to step forward.
- Zoom in or out: Pinch open or closed on the screen.
- Full-screen mode: Tap the expand arrows icon to make the view take up the whole screen.
- Hide labels: Swipe up on the place name card in full-screen mode and choose Hide Labels if you want a clear view.
- Exit: Tap Done or minimize the window to return to the standard map
