Purported images and video of the foldable iPhone’s screen proctors shared

The leaker known as "Ice Universe" today shared images and a hands on video of screen protectors for Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone.

As noted by MacRumors, the leaker known as “Ice Universe” today shared images and a hands on video of screen protectors for Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone.

“This is the screen protector for the iPhone Ultra,” he/she said in an X post. “You can see, the iPhone Ultra actually has an irregular screen with one side square and the other round.”

The foldable iPhone — expected to be dubbed either the “iPhone Fold” or “iPhone Ultra” — should arrive in October, following the September debut of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. (The non-Pro iPhone 18, an iPhone 18e, and second generation iPhone Air are anticipated in the first half of 2027.)

Sadly, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro line-up and the foldable iPhone will see higher price tags than originally predicted. The price hikes could be around 11% more than their iPhone 17 counterparts. Predictions for the foldable iPhone have been pegged at between $2,000 and $2,500. An 11% increase would push those prices to between $2,200 and $2,275.

Here’s a round-up of rumors about the foldable iPhone:

° It will use a dual-layer, ultra-thin glass structure to reduce display crease visibility.

° It will be offered in 236GB, 512GB, and 1TB options.

° It will feature an interior foldable display roughly the size of an iPad mini. There also will be an external screen that’s about the size of the display on a small iPhone.

° Apple is developing new iOS app layouts and revamping its core iPhone programs to add sidebars along the left edge of the screen, similar to many of its iPad apps.

° The iPhone Fold/Ultra will have: a 7.8-inch inner display; a crease depth controlled to under 0.15 mm; and a crease angle under 2.5 degrees.
