The Apple Watch Series 12 will feature a new health sensor, but only in its fluoroelastomer band, the leaker “Kosutami” claims in an X post.
He/she claims Apple hasn’t figured out how to put the feature on bands made of other materials. Kosutami doesn’t offer any info on what the sensor would measure.
The Apple Watch Series 12 is expected to launch in September 2026 with an all-new S12 processor, enhanced display efficiency, and potentially a major redesign to the band attachment system that would break compatibility with older bands. Pricing is expected to start around $399 to $429.
The S12 chip is rumored to be based on the A19 architecture, which could bring up to 2-3x faster performance and a 20-40% improvement in battery life over previous generations. This added power and RAM may finally allow full Apple Intelligence features to run natively on the smart watch.
The Series 12 could sport an entirely new band attachment mechanism. This would mean abandoning the proprietary strap design used by the watch for over a decade.
Internal Apple code leaks have previously pointed toward Touch ID integration—likely built into the side button—for enhanced security and easier unlocking. Other rumors indicate upgrades to screen brightness and efficiency, possibly pushing max brightness closer to the 3,000-nit threshold to stay competitive with models like the Apple Watch Ultra.
