Fantasy author Brandon Sanderson has offered an update on Apple TV’s upcoming adaptation of “The Stormlight Archive,” reports CBR.
During an event featuring a conversation between him and fellow fantasy author Joe Abercrombie, Sanderson confirmed that Apple has ordered 10 episodes of “The Stormlight Archive,” and that he’ll be the lead writer.
“Stormlight, I’ll write a huge chunk of it – which is a 10-episode television show,” Sanderson said. “I am the primary writer on both of those,” he concluded, referring to both “The Stormlight Archive”TV showand the “Mistborn” movie.
In January it was announced that Apple TV had closed what has been described as an unprecedented deal to land the rights to the Cosmere books, the fictional literary universe by fantasy author Brandon Sanderson, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
The first titles being eyed for adaptation are the “Mistborn” series, for features, and “The Stormlight Archive” series, for television.
The Cosmere is the greater universe in which The Stormlight Archive and all other Brandon Sanderson’s adult fiction books take place. That is, each book he writes is set on a unique world, and each of these worlds is set in the same Cosmere. All of the books share a single creation myth, a single cosmology and are connected by an overarching story. However, none of them dominate the storyline of any of the books.
