The foldable iPhone is reportedly part of Apple’s new staggered smartphone schedule

iPhone Fold/Ultra concept

Macworld reports that Apple may announce the iPhone 18 Pro and first foldable iPhone in September. However, as other reports have said, the foldable — which may be dubbed the “iPhone Fold” or “iPhone Ultra” will ship later due to production delays.

The iPhone Ultra is expected to reach Apple’s highest device pricing ever at up to $2,500, positioned as a new premium tier above Pro Max models, notes Macworld. The article says “this staggered launch strategy aims to boost iPhone’s average selling price while the Ultra faces competitive pressure in the established foldable market.”

Here’s a round-up of rumors about the foldable iPhone:

° It will use a dual-layer, ultra-thin glass structure to reduce display crease visibility.

° Apple will offer the iPhone Fold/Ultra in three different storage capacities.

° The iPhone Fold/Ultra will have: a 7.8-inch inner display; a crease depth controlled to under 0.15 mm; and a crease angle under 2.5 degrees.
