In macOS Tahoe 26.4, you can use the new Charge Limit feature to cap your MacBook battery to a maximum of 80%–100% to extend its lifespan. Here’s how:
° Open System Settings on your Mac.
° Select Battery from the sidebar.
° Click the information (“i”) button located next to the “Charging” option.
° Use the new slider/dropdown menu to select a maximum charge limit, ranging from 80% to 100% in 5% increments.
° Click Done.
This feature is primarily for MacBooks and isn’t supported on older Intel-based Macs. The Charge Limit feature is designed to prevent the battery from staying at 100% capacity for too long, reducing wear on your laptop.
