On March 9 it was reported that analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the second generation MacBook Neo would have a touchscreen. Then, on March 12, he said “no,” it won’t.
But Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, in his latest Power On newsletter, says it might. He says Apple is considering that option. However, a touch screen would increase the cost of making the MacBook Neo, which is priced as low as $499, so there’s that.
The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) says the second generation MacBook Neo will not sport a touchscreen. I think the first Mac with a touchscreen — the rumored “MacBook Ultra” — will be the only Mac with a touchscreen for the foreseeable future. The feature will start with higher end Macs and trickle down to lower priced items, in my opinion.
