Apple will release its rumored, low-cost Mac laptop as early as next month, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest “Power On” newsletter.
He says the new MacBook may come in a variety of colors , including yellow, green, blue, pink, silver, and gray. Gurman adds that it’s expected to be manufactured with a cheaper, more efficient process while still keeping the frame made from the premium-feeling aluminum.
The laptop is expected to use an iPhone-level processor and cost “well under $1,000” and it will compete with affordable Windows machines and Chromebooks. Gurman says it will be Apple’s first “low cost” laptop. Apple’s lowest priced Mac notebook right now is the MacBook Air, which starts at $999.
