Apple will launch a second-generation iPhone Air this year, according to the Weibo leaker known as Fixed Focus Digital. This goes against other reports that the second version of the thinnest-ever Apple smartphone won’t arrive until next year.
Except for China, where it’s a hit, the iPhone Air is widely believed to be a sales disappointment. Apparently, Apple plans to spur sales in a second gen model by adding a second camera.
Pricing for the iPhone Air starts at US$999, and that appears to have put off customers, leading to reports of poor sales and manufacturing cuts.
