For Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Apple brought its Magnifier app to the Mac. It requires macOS 26 Tahoe and can work with a built-in webcam, a connected third-party camera or an iPhone via Apple’s Continuity feature. Here’s how to use it:
- Open Magnifier: Search for “Magnifier” in Spotlight by pressing Command-Space and typing “Magnifier”.
- Set the camera source: By default, it uses your Mac’s built-in camera. To use your iPhone, position your iPhone with Continuity Camera enabled and select it from the camera menu in the Magnifier app’s menu bar. You can also connect an external USB camera.
- Control the zoom: Use the on-screen slider to zoom in and out.
- Use text detection: Click the “Reader” button to have the app detect and display text in the camera’s view.
- Customize options: Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier to change the camera source, customize the layout, and adjust other settings.
