The Hold Assist feature of iOS 26 keeps your spot in line while you wait to speak to a live agent, and rings you to return to the call when the live agent is there.

To use Hold Assist, start a call in the Phone app and tap the More button (three dots) to reveal the menu. Then tap Hold Assist to activate it. This will let your iPhone monitor the line for you and notify you when a live agent is available.

The feature can also activate automatically when your iPhone detects hold music. When a live person takes the line, your iPhone will ring or send a notification, and you’ll see a real-time transcription of the conversation while you were away.
