I hope this is wrong, but in his latest “Power On” newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says an OLED MacBook Pro might not arrive as soon as expected.
Previously, he’s said that it should arrive in late 2026. Now he says it might not arrive until early 2027. On a brighter note, he says late 2026 is still a possibility.
“It means I need to see something entirely new if I’m going to get excited about upgrading. And that’s where the revamped MacBook Pro with an OLED screen comes into play,” Gurman writes. “It’s arriving between the end of 2026 and early 2027 and should boast the M6 chip. That Mac represents enough of a change to finally move the needle.”
He says that, whenever the OLED laptop arrives, it will have a thinner design. MacBook Pros with OLED displays have been rumored to be coming soon for over three years. Samsung was purportedly talking with Apple about supplying OLED displays for a Mac laptop as far back as May 2019, according to the Korean site The Elec.
That same year Kuo forecast a 16-inch (perhaps 17-inch) Mac laptop with an OLED display. And last month Omedia analyst Linda Lin said that we’d see such a laptop in 2026.
