In iOS 16’s Maps app, Guides allow users to explore curated collections of places, either those created by Apple or by other users or publishers.

You can discover guides when searching for a location, and you can also save and share your own custom guides. Here’s how to use Guides in iOS 16’s Maps app:

1. Discovering Guides:

  • Search for a location: Open the Maps app and search for a city or place.
  • View guides: If guides are available for that location, they will appear below the Flyover and Directions buttons in a carousel.
  • Browse guides: Tap on a guide to open it and see the listed places.

2. Saving and Sharing Guides:

  • Save a guide: When viewing a guide, tap the “Add to Library” button to save it for later.
  • Share a guide: Tap the Share button to share the guide with others.
  • Find saved guides: Tap the Library icon, then tap “Guides” to view your saved guides.

3. Creating Your Own Guides:

  • Find a location: Open Maps and search for a place you want to add to a guide.
  • Add to a guide: Tap the location, then tap the “More” button (three dots) and select “Add to Guides”.
  • Create a new guide: If you don’t have an existing guide, tap “New Guide” and give it a name.
  • Add to existing guide: Alternatively, you can add the location to an existing guide.
  • Share your custom guide: You can share your custom guide with others in the same way you share pre-created guides.

4. Managing Guides:

  • Edit guides: You can edit your custom guides by adding or removing locations, or by changing the name or photo of a location.
  • Remove guides: You can remove saved guides from your library.
