No, we won’t see an iPhone 17e in late May

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) is extremely dubious, but the WeChat-based leaker Fixed Focus Digital claims an iPhone 17e is nearing the trial product stage.

He/she adds that the smartphone could arrive as early as late May. However, I find that impossible to believe as the iPhone 17 line-up will almost certainly not arrive until September or October. Apple may be planning an iPhone 17e as a follow-up to the iPhone 16e, but the the company isn’t going to release it before the rest of the iPhone 17 line-up.

The US$599 iPhone 16e was released in late February. It sports a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, an A18 chip, and a USB-C port,
