Apple now has 21% of the Latin America smartphone market

The Latin American smartphone market’s shipments grew 9.3% year-over-year (YoY) in quarter four (Q4) 2024, marking its sixth consecutive quarter of expansion, according to Counterpoint.

Apple’s shipments in Brazil and Mexico, its best-performing markets in the region, grew YoY and quarter-over-quarter, notes the research group. Unlike previous years, the growth was primarily driven by the new iPhone 16 Pro Max. However, legacy models continued to hold a larger share of shipments due to their favorable price for the given specifications, notes Counterpoint.

Apple now has 21% of the Latin America smartphone market. That’s up 33+ annually from the fourth quarter of 2023. Samsung continues to dominate the region’s market with 29% market share.
