How to remove duplicate songs in Music in macOS Sequoia

If you’ve ended up with multiple versions of the same song or songs in Apple Music, it’s easy to find duplicate items and remove them.

If you’ve ended up with multiple versions of the same song or songs in Apple Music, it’s easy to find duplicate items and remove them.

You can search for exact duplicates, in which a song, artist, album, and version are all the same. For example, you accidentally imported a song twice. Or you may have the same  song on an artist’s album and on a soundtrack.

To find and eliminate duplicates:

1. Launch the Music app.

2. Click Songs in the sidebar, select a song, then do one of the following:

  1. Find every instance of that item in your library: Choose File > Library > Show Duplicate Items.

Find exact duplicates: Press and hold the Option key, then choose File > Library > Show Exact Duplicate Items.

3. Click Delete Song, then do one of the following:

  1. Remove the item only from your library: Click Keep File.
  2. Delete the item from your computer: Click Move to Trash. The item is removed the next time you empty the Trash.
