Apple has reportedly asked its manufacturing partner, Foxconn, to build artificial intelligence (AI) servers in Taiwan as the tech giant looks to accelerate its computing ability and capture a bigger share of the generative AI boom.
Per the rumor, Apple wants to build servers using Apple silicon, the company’s in-house designed chips, to power the generative AI functions of Apple Intelligence on Macs, iPhones, iPads, Vision Pros, and other devices. The Mac maker is also purpotedly asking China’s Lenovo Group and its subsidiary LCFC to help with some server designs and is counting on smaller suppliers such as Universal Scientific Industrial to provide production services.
