Using Apple Gadgets and GPS Trackers for Safer Travels: A Comparison

Power Finder 4G

Apple is a gadget manufacturer that many people consider high-end because of the excellence of many of its products despite the relatively higher average price of its products. One of them is AirTag, an Apple device specifically designed for tracking personal items or business assets. However great Apple’s reputation is, that doesn’t mean that AirTag is always the best option. This article is about using AirTag and a GPS tracker for safe travel

GPS tracker? Yes, of course!

Before we go there, it would be good to first understand AirTag and its features.

It is a tracking-based security device and more than that, AirTag enables:

– Encrypted communication for eavesdropping prevention.

– Random Bluetooth identification to prevent third parties from tracking user movements.

– Separation notifications to let you know when you take someone else’s AirTag with you.

An AirTag embedded in an object is basically for tracking that object. In other words, if you are trying to find AirTag in car, you are trying to track your car (where the AirTag is stored).

Please note that AirTag does not store your information and should you ever lose it and it is accessed by someone else, you don’t have to worry about that person being able to find out your personal information. You can of course track your AirTag but on the other hand, the person carrying the AirTag cannot identify you. If embedded in the luggage in your travel bag, an AirTag can be a good tracking-based security tool. But of course it is not without its “drawbacks”.

An AirTag that is lost before 24 hours does not trigger the iPhone to give a farewell notification (to the owner), unfortunately, 24 hours is a long time for a thief. He could have done a lot worse in that time. Even before June 2021, the iPhone didn’t send the notification for three days.

Annoyingly, AirTag only works within the iOS ecosystem so it can’t send notifications to Android devices. Inflexibility means loss (for the victim). Of course there are workarounds such as the use of the Tracker Detect app, however it does not provide automatic notifications if your AirTag is lost. It is an app to manually search for AirTags within a certain area. AirTag is undoubtedly a tracking-based security tool but it is far from perfect.

There is a better solution than that, a GPS tracker!

A good GPS tracker, such as the POWER Finder 4G from PAJ-GPS, can track a target anywhere in over 100 countries, with many notification features such as notifications for geofencing violations, an attempt to restrict the target within a certain area. In other words, if the target crosses or leaves a certain area (which is pre-set), the system will notify the user’s device. It happens instantly so there is no need to wait up to 24 hours as in the case of AirTag.

POWER Finder 4G is also compatible with Android and iOS so unlike AirTag, it is not exclusive. More flexibility means more benefits for the user as he can choose any device as the “controlling device/receiver of notifications”.

The POWER Finder 4G is also capable of providing SOS signals for rapid response units while providing its real time location. A real advantage over the “fairly slow” AirTag.

Conclusion

These are two devices for better travel safety but when compared point by point, there is no doubt that a GPS tracker like the POWER Finder 4G is better.
