60-Second Tips: Changing the default name of an iOS device

When my husband and I purchase a new iPhone or iPad, the older models are handed down to our children who are old enough to have a smartphone or tablet device. As a result, our family now has a total of 6 iOS devices that we sync to iTunes and connect via Apple’s Family Sharing and iCloud accounts.

To ensure we can identify each phone in our growing collection, we change the name of each device from the default “iPhone” or “iPad” to a new name that is unique to each device.  In today’s 60-second tips, I demonstrate how to change the default name of an iOS device so you can easily recognize it in iTunes, Find My iPhone and other services.
