In 2022, Troubadour acquired Mujjo — Europe’s leading maker of premium leather mobile accessories. For three years, both brands operated independently. Today, the range is Troubadour entirely.
And the brand is offering a sophisticated line of iPhone cases. My iPhone 18 Pro Max is wearing an Obsidian Green model. The US$59 Troubadour case oozes elegant in form and feel.
It’s crafted from full-grain Danish calfskin, vegetable-tanned and processed with waterless DriTan technology. There are no plastic coatings. Its makers say that, over time, the leather acquires a patina that “belongs uniquely to whoever carries it.” Since I’ve only been using mine for a few days, I’ll have to take their word for it.
The Troubadour case boasts a machined-metal camera bump and buttons with satin-soft Japanese microfibre lining, so it’s both durable and cushiony. It’s also MagSafe compatible, which is a must-have feature for any modern iPhone case.
A machined-metal camera bump shields the smartphone’s lens, while a 1mm raised leather bezel guards the screen from abrasive surfaces — all without adding much bulk.
But the Troubadour’s coolest feature is that its a modular case. A removable magnetic back panel allows you to switch between two modes. Panel in: a full-grain leather case, slim and MagSafe compatible. Panel out: a leather bumper that protects the sides and corners while leaving the back of the phone exactly as it came.
The magnet and the raised bumper edges hold the panel. It drops in and stays there. In bumper mode, MagSafe accessories can sit inside the cavity rather than stacking on the back. The raised bumper edges hold accessories in place so they don’t slide when the iPhone moves.
With all these features, the Troubadour is currently my favorite case for my iPhone 18 Pro Max.
