iPhones come with 50 pre-installed apps; you can safely remove many of them
Most people keep far too many applications on their smartphones, often completely forgetting about many of them right after buying the device.
A recent Surfshark study highlights that bloatware starts from day one, with phone manufacturers pre-installing a significant number of apps that sit silently in the background and collect user data. Here are some highlights from the report:
Samsung phones comes with 88 pre-installed apps, with 50 (57%) safe to remove. These apps collect an average of 13 data types.
iPhones come with 50 pre-installed apps. In the EU, users can remove 48 (98%) of them, while in other countries, users can remove 44 (88%). These apps collect an average of eight data types.
China-based Xiaomi phones come with 61 pre-installed apps, with 35 (57%) safe to remove. These apps collect an average of 16 data types.
Google phones come with 71 pre-installed apps, with 27 (38%) safe to remove. These apps collect an average of 13 data types.
