In iOS 26, you can convert any standard 2D photo with a clear subject into a 3D spatial scene using on-device processing. Let’s look at how to do this.
How to Apply and View Spatial Scenes
- Open the Photos app and select the image you want to convert.
- Tap the Spatial Scene button in the top right corner. The app will take a couple of seconds to process the 2D image into a layered 3D scene.
- Tilt your iPhone to any side. You will see a parallax effect where the background shifts while the foreground subject stays stable.
How to Use 3D Spatial Photos as Wallpaper
- Long-press on your Lock Screen, swipe right, and tap the + (plus) icon to create a new one.
- Upload and select the photo you want to use.
- Tap the Spatial Scene icon (which looks like an image with a diagonal slash) to activate the 3D effect.
- Tap Add to set the image as a wallpaper pair. Now, tilting your phone on the lock screen will let you look around the spatial scene.
