I mostly like Apple’s Liquid Glass user interface features. However, lots of folks don’t. You can reduce Apple’s Liquid Glass transparency by enabling Reduce Transparency in your device’s accessibility settings. This removes translucent effects, replacing them with solid, opaque backgrounds for menus, docks, and notifications.
On a Mac
- Open the Apple menu and go to System Settings.
- Click Accessibility in the sidebar, then select Display.
- Turn on Reduce Transparency.
On an iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings and tap Accessibility.
- Select Display & Text Size.
- Toggle on Reduce Transparency.
For further customization, try Apple’s Tinted Liquid Glass setting:
- Navigate to Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass.
- Change the setting from Clear (default) to Tinted. This option significantly increases opacity and contrast.
On an Apple Watch
- Open Settings on your watch.
- Tap Accessibility.
- Turn on Reduce Transparency.
