macOS Mojave introduced Dynamic Desktop, a series of time-shifting images to match the time of day. Let’s look at how to enable it in macOS Tahoe.
To ensure the wallpaper transitions smoothly through the day, follow these quick steps:
- Open Settings: Go to the Apple menu and select System Settings (or right-click your desktop and click Change Wallpaper).
- Select Wallpaper: Scroll down the sidebar and click Wallpaper.
- Choose a Theme: Under the Dynamic Wallpapers or animated Aerial categories (such as Earth or Lake Tahoe), select the wallpaper you want to use.
- Enable Dynamic Mode: Above your wallpaper thumbnails, click the style dropdown menu (where you can usually pick Light, Dark, or Dynamic) and set it to Dynamic.
- Verify Location Services: Because Dynamic Desktops follow your local time, make sure Location Services is enabled in Privacy & Security so the background accurately matches your current time zone.
