Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone rumored to feature a radical new curved design with slimmer bezels

Apple still hopes the 20th anniversary iPhone will have a bezel-free, all-screen design.

Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone will feature a radical new curved design with slimmer bezels, according to the X user “@phonefuturist” — as noted by MacRumors.

The post calls the iPhone the “iPhone XX” and includes mock-up image showing convex display glass curving down at the edges to meet a slim, iPhone X-like polished frame.  “@phonefurturist” claims says the smartphone may ship with either a smaller Dynamic Island than the current ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ or a punch-hole cutout, paired with Samsung’s “Polar ID” face authentication system.

Along the same lines, Apple is still testing under-screen camera technology with the goal of releasing a 20th anniversary iPhone with an uninterrupted display, according to Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station — as also noted by MacRumors.

The goal is to (eventually) shrink and relocate its front-facing sensors under the display. The shift would move from the current Dynamic Island to a smaller cutout, then to a single punch hole with Face ID hidden beneath the screen, according to Digital Chat Station.

Digital Chat Station also claims that Apple is working on a smartphone with a quad-display design that would wrap around the corners of the device to provide essentially a bezel-free, all-screen design. This lines ups with rumors that the goal is to release a 20th anniversary iPhone with no physical buttons, just haptic ones.

Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said that the 2027 smartphone will have a mostly glass, curved iPhone — without any cutouts in the display.
