How to See if an App isn’t 64-bit in macOS Tahoe

Starting with macOS Sierra, Apple provided a convenient Picture in Picture (PiP) feature that allows you to “float” a video window from Safari, YouTube, Apple TV+, and other apps.

macOS Tahoe is 64-bit only. Apple has been phasing out 32-bit apps for the years and the operating system update has taken the final step. You need to know which of your apps will work with Tahoe and which ones don’t. Here’s how:

System Information (Recommended):

Hold down the Option key and click the  Apple menu > System Information.

Scroll to Software in the left sidebar and select Applications.

Click the 64-Bit (Intel) column header to sort by 32-bit (“No”) or 64-bit (“Yes”).

Activity Monitor:

Open Activity Monitor (via Spotlight).

Click on the CPU or Memory tab.

Right-click the table header and ensure Kind is selected. This shows 32-bit or 64-bit next to running processes.
