If you have any choice besides Xfinity for Internet, use it.
During the “Snowmageddon” ice/snow storm of 2026, our Apple World Today office was without Internet for 14 days.
During that time, I was a nomad, traveling to my son and daughter’s houses to keep this site up and running.
We’re based in a suburb of Nashville, TN. There were lots of power lines down as well as Xfinity lines. However, the Nashville Electric Service (NES) had electricity back on in less than four days. Driving around our neck of the woods you could see dozens of NES trucks and linemen out and about. On the other hand, over the two weeks we were without Internet, I saw a total of four Xfinity trucks.
Once power was back on, I used the Xfinity app (because the company doesn’t want you talking to a human being) to apply for a discount on our next bill. Xfinity was offering the discount due to the “inconvenience” its customers faced. After two weeks of no service, Xfinity was kind enough to take $5.15 off our next bill.
Gee, Xfinity, you’re so generous.
Currently, Xfinity is the only Internet servicer available in our area. When there’s an alternative available, I’ll ditch ‘em in an instant!
I hope you’ll help support Apple World Today by becoming a patron. Almost all our income is from Patreon support and sponsored posts. Patreon pricing ranges from $2 to $10 a month. Thanks in advance for your support.
