MacKeeper researchers say they’ve found that suspicious ads appeared in Google search results that contain harmful content for Mac users.

Google Ads shows sponsored results for “mac cleaner” that lead users to landing pages with a design similar to Apple’s official website, but these pages contain harmful instructions for Mac users. In other words, certain sponsored ads on Google have been trying to lead users on to faked Apple support pages that try to get the user to use the Terminal and install malware on Macs.

MacKeeper investigated these ads and reported them to Google. The company’s advice is to rely only on information from trusted resources and use of verified apps to protect your personal information and Mac.
