How to use the Liquid Glass toggle in macOS Tahoe 26.1

It’s pretty easy to enable parental controls on macOS Tahoe by using Screen Time in System Settings.

macOS Tahoe 26.1 introduced a Liquid Glass setting that gives you the option to choose between the default clear look or a new tinted look which increases opacity of the material in apps and notifications on the Lock Screen. To use it:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Click Appearance in the sidebar.
  3. Find and click the new Liquid Glass menu.
  4. Choose between Clear (default) or Tinted.

You can also reduce the transparency further:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Click Accessibility in the sidebar.
  3. Under the Vision section, click Display.
  4. Toggle the switch for Reduce transparency to On.
