It’s very annoying to me that app windows may be popping into full screen mode. But you can stop it.
They may be entering full screen in macOS Tahoe due to settings related to window tiling, Stage Manager, or system behavior. Here’s how to fix this:
- Go to System Settings (from the Apple menu).
- Select Desktop & Dock from the sidebar.
- Scroll down to the “Windows” section.
- Disable the toggle for “Drag windows to screen edges to tile.”
- If you are using Stage Manager, go to System Settings > Desktop & Dock and turn it off. This feature automatically hides all other windows when enabled.
- Also in Desktop & Dock, check the Click wallpaper to reveal desktop setting. Setting it to “Only in Stage Manager” can help prevent unintended full-screen behavior.
If that doesn’t work, some apps may have their own preferences or use shortcuts like double-clicking the title bar to enter full screen. Check their preferences to change this.
