Fubon Analyst Arthur Liao thinks Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone will a “bright spot” as global smartphone demand contacts in 2026, reports investing.com.
However, he adds that the material costs, particularly the panel, hinge and lightweight components of the “iPhone Fold” will push pricing toward the upper end of market expectations.
While rumors range from $2,000 to $2,500, Fubon Research expects the iPhone price to reach “$2,399,” citing supply chain analysis and Apple’s margin needs.
Demand is expected to hinge heavily on this pricing, but the research group is optimistic, according to investing.com. Using a 7% penetration-rate assumption, the firm said total sales of foldable iPhones over their lifecycle are 15.4 million units, including 5.4 million units in 2026.
What’s more, according to the supply chain sources of UDN, Apple has made a breakthrough to solve the crease problem. The goals it to make the upcoming smartphone the first foldable with a true crease-free design.
The “iPhone Fold” is expected to debut in the last half of 2026. Here’s a round-up of all the rumors concerning it:

° It will measure 9–9.5mm thick when folded and 4.5–4.8mm when unfolded.
° The hinge will combine stainless steel and titanium alloy, while the casing opts for titanium alloy.
° It will use the same high-density battery cells as the ultra-thin iPhone 17.
