Astropad’s Fresh-Coat is a very effective anti-reflective screen protector

Astropad’s US$34.99 Fresh-Coat is a very effective anti-reflective glass screen protector for the iPhone.

Its optical-grade AR coating purportedly cuts 75% of reflections, boosts contrasts, and preserves vibrant colors — with zero haze or distortion. I can’t attest to the 75%, but it certainly does reduce reflections.

The purpose of the Fresh-Coat is to fight reflects so your iPhone screen stays readable in any light. Sunlight and overhead lighting can wash out colors and flatten contrasts, which makes your smartphone harder to read. The Astropad protector alleviates such problems.  It can also help prolong battery life as you can keep your brightness lower in many circumstances to reduce battery usage. 

How does the Fresh-Coat do this. According to the folks at Astropad, it has five advanced layers into just 0.6 mm. Which means no extra bulk on your smartphone.

It also helps reduce fingerprint marks and smudges, help protector agains dust, and keeps your iPhone a bit safer from drops. The Fresh-Coat sports a flexible bonding layer that cushions against minor drops and disperses impact across the surface.

I use it on my iPhone 17 Pro Max, but it’s available for all the latest Apple smartphones. 

The Fresh-Coast package comes with the screen protector, a precision alignment tool, and a. QR code link for installing it. I can never install a screen protector on any device without leaving bubbles, so I confess I get my daughter-in-law to do it — and she can without any issues. 

There are other screen protectors out there that probably work just as well. However, since I’m a BIG fan of Astropad’s Rock Paper Pencil — see my review — it makes sense for me to go with another of the company’s products.
