Apple is working on more satellite-based features for the iPhone, including expanding the satellite connectivity functionality, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest “Power On” newsletter.
He says the tech giant may developer an application programming interface (API) for developers for this purpose. However, not every Apple-created satellite feature will be made available to developers. Gurman adds that Apple is also considering:
° Expanding the existing Messages via Satellite function;
° Adding support for photos, bringing it beyond basic text messages;
° Considering making Apple Maps with with satellites beyond determine positioning data.
° Making satellite connections stronger and easier to access.
