Apple is reviewing the future of Apple Fitness+ as it considers a reorganization of the service, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest “Power On” newsletter.
He says Fitness+ is one of Apple’s “weakest digital offerings” that generates little revenue. Plus, it has a loyal fanbase that would result in a “backlash” if the service were ditched, Gurman says.
He says the fitness service will be getting new management. Apple health vice president Sumbul Desai will take control of the service. The health division, now including Apple Fitness+, will report directly to Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services Eddy Cue.
Apple Fitness+ debuted in 2020 as an ad-free video on demand guided workout streaming service. It costs $9.99 per month and is available as part of the Apple One Premier bundle.
