How to use Quick Keys in macOS Tahoe

Quick Keys are shortcuts that let you perform actions in Spotlight using just a few characters.

Quick Keys are shortcuts that let you perform actions in Spotlight using just a few characters. With a Quick Key, you can type in a couple of letters to do a task that you repeat often, such as sending someone a message or opening up an app.

To create a Quick Key in macOS Tahoe:
° Launch Spotlight.


  • ° Find an action: Search for an action you want to create a shortcut for, like “New Event” in the Calendar app.

  • ° Add Quick Key: When the action appears in the results, click “Add Quick Key” to its right.

  • ° Assign a new shortcut: Type two or more characters to create a new shortcut for this action.

  • Press Return: Press Return to save your new Quick Key.
