How to disable full-screen screenshot previews in iPadOS 26

With iPadOS 26 Apple has made some few changes to its screenshotting tool. By default, your iPhone or iPad now displays screenshots in the full-screen view.

However, you can change this if you wish. To disable full-screen screenshot previews in iPadOS 26.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPad.
  2. Tap on General in the sidebar.
  3. Scroll down and tap on Screen Capture.
  4. Find the toggle for Full-Screen Previews and turn it off.

After disabling this option, your screenshots will appear as a small thumbnail in the bottom-left corner, similar to the behavior in older iPadOS versions. You can still tap the thumbnail to open the full-screen interface for editing or sharing, but it won’t be the default.
