Sometimes you may need to delete iCloud messages on your Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Here’s how:
On Your iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Messages app.
- Swipe left: on the conversation you want to delete.
- Tap the Delete button (a trash can icon).
- Confirm the deletion if prompted.
On Your Mac
- Open the Messages app.
- In the conversation list, right-click or two-finger-tap (on a trackpad) the conversation you want to delete.
- Select Delete from the context menu.
- To delete individual messages, hold down the Command (⌘) key, click the messages you want, and then press the Delete key.
To Delete Attachments
- Open the Messages app and select a conversation.
- Tap or click the contact’s name or group name at the top of the screen.
- Select Info.
- Scroll down to find Photos, Videos, or Documents sections.
- Tap or click See All for the category.
- Tap or click Select, choose the attachments you wish to remove, and then tap or click Delete.
Things to Note
- When Messages in iCloud is enabled, deleting a message on one device will delete it from all synced devices.
- To free up iCloud storage, you can also go to Settings > Messages > Manage Storage on your iPhone to find and delete large attachments or conversations, or set messages to “Keep Messages” for a shorter duration.
