Apple is working on a new version of the MacBook Pro with an OLED display, a hole punch camera, and touch screen functionality, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman reiterated in a report today.
It’s expected to launch between late 2026 and early 2027. Sooner is better than later, especially if it also comes with a cellular option.
Gurman says the upcoming MacBook Pro revamp will have a thinner design and pack an M6 processor. Today’s report lines ups with previous reports from him and from other pundits.
MacBook Pros with OLED displays have been rumored to be coming soon for over three years. Samsung was purportedly talking with Apple about supplying OLED displays for a Mac laptop as far back as May 2019, according to the Korean site The Elec.
That same year analyst Ming-Chi Kuo forecast a 16-inch (perhaps 17-inch) Mac laptop with an OLED display. And in July Omedia analyst Linda Lin said that we’d see such a laptop in 2026.
Obviously, that’s not going to happen. In fact, Gurman doesn’t think we’ll see MacBook Pros with M5 Pro and M5 Max processors until early 2026. So it’s possible that Apple might release two updates of the pro laptop in the same year.
