The ‘iPhone Air’ may face a delayed arrival in China

The “iPhone Air” may face a delayed arrival in China, as the embedded-Sim infrastructure isn’t ready for a nationwide roll-out in time for the iPhone 17 launch this month, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

Shop assistants at two Apple authorized resellers in Foshan, in southern Guangdong province, told the SCMP that they hadn’t received any training regarding the eSim support. Tech influencer Fixed Focus Digital, which has 2.3 million followers on Chinese social media Weibo, said on Wednesday that the roll-out of eSIM in mainland China would be “unlikely” this month, as mass production of the iPhone Air started months later than the other three models expected to be launched – the basic iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro and the top-of-the-line iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The new iPhones, new Apple Watches, and perhaps other items will be unveiled at a special event dubbed “Awe Dropping” on Tuesday, September 9 at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. Here’s a round-up of the rumors about the upcoming smartphones.
