macOS Tahoe 26 includes support for automatically joining your iPhone‘s Personal Hotspot when no Wi-Fi network is available, so you no longer need to manually connect. To automatically join your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot on macOS Tahoe:

  1. Open Wi-Fi Settings:
    • Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar (at the top right of your screen).
    • Alternatively, click Control Center and then the Wi-Fi button.
  2. Find the Hotspot Setting:
  3. In the Wi-Fi Settings window that appears, scroll down.
  4. Set to Automatic:
  1. Locate the option for “Ask to join hotspots”.
  2. From the dropdown menu, select Automatic.

Requirements for Auto-Join:

  • Both your Mac and iPhone must be signed into the same Apple ID or be part of the same Family Sharing group.
  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi must be enabled on both devices.
  • Your iPhone must have a Personal Hotspot service plan activated with your carrier.

When you are near your iPhone and not connected to another Wi-Fi network, your Mac will now automatically attempt to join your personal hotspot.
